Do you need a way to make your convenience retail field teams more efficient...?

Author: Linzi McGuire

Last week we spoke about the three opportunities for brands to win in convenience retail. Today we’ll focus on just one of these: how to make field teams more efficient.

Let’s start with a question - How interested would you be if we told you we had a way to make your field team more efficient, give them flexibility on retailer offers and sell more stock in the process?

We’re going to guess your answer is very interested!

In our experience, the best way to get more for less out of your convenience team is to eliminate their need to carry stock. This enables more calls per day because calls will be shorter and there will be no need to visit the Cash and Carry. In addition, your team will be open to sell as much as they can because they’re not limited by what stock they’re carrying on the day.

So, how do we do that?

This is a question we’ve been trying to solve for some time and we’re proud to announce that through an exclusive partnership with Integrated Brand Delivery for their A4I service, we have done just that. They’ve developed and launched a distribution network and transfer order system that delivers to all convenience stores in the UK.

How does it work?

It’s simple, there are only 3 steps:

1. Order: Field sales reps place transfer orders electronically, capturing a digital signature from the retailer in the process.

2. Stock management: Stock is delivered direct from the brand to the hub warehouse near Heathrow or to 11 other main warehouses around the country.

3. Delivery: Stock will be delivered to store within 48 hours of order and retailers will have the option to pay via cash or credit card. This negates the need for the field team to handle cash upon acceptance of order.

What are the benefits for brands?

The service delivers 3 key benefits for brands:

  1. Field efficiency: Brands can achieve a higher ROI by visiting more stores per day. Our insight tells us field teams are up to 15% more efficient.
  2. Sell more stock: Unencumbered by the stock they can carry, field teams can sell as much stock as the retailer agrees to. So far, we’ve demonstrated the ability to sell up to 90% more volume per day.
  3. Flexibility on retailer offers: This model gives brands more choice on the offers the field team sell to retailers.
